Sea Service log & CV

Log every contract, see sea time in total, in your rank and in the last 5 years, and print an officer CV for crewing departments and promotion boards.

What it is for

Sea Service Log & CV (menu: "Sea service & CV", under My life) is your own record of time aboard. Add each contract with the vessel, flag, ship type and size, rank, sign-on and sign-off dates and notes (trade, cargo, anything a crewing manager or inspector cares about). Three boxes at the top show your total sea time, your time in your current rank (the rank in your profile) and your time in the last 5 years, in years and months and in days. A contract with no sign-off date is the one you are on now and runs to today.

Overlapping contracts (a typing slip, or two records for one voyage) are flagged with a warning and marked with an asterisk; the overlapping days are counted once in the totals. A sign-off on the same day as the next sign-on is a normal crew change, not an overlap.

The printable "Sea Service Record" is an officer CV with your name, rank, current ship, the totals, a table of every contract with its days, your notes, and signature and date lines; it says it was generated from your own entries and should be verified against your discharge book and company records before official use. The same contracts feed the Tax day counter (as sea days) and the Next certificate planner (sea time for your next CoC).

Who can use it

Everyone, on every plan including Free. It is your own record: it is never part of the ship file and is never shown to the Master, other crew or the office. On the trial and the paid plans it is copied through the SeaReady server to your own other signed-in device.

Step by step

  1. Open the menu and tap "Sea service & CV".
  2. Fill in "Vessel", "Flag", "Ship type / size", "Rank", "Sign-on" and, if the contract has ended, "Sign-off (blank = current)"; add "Notes" if useful.
  3. Tap "Add entry"; the totals and the record update at once.
  4. To change or remove a contract, tap the pencil or the bin on its line in the list; tap "Save changes" after editing.
  5. Tap "Print CV / Save PDF" and print the record or save it from your phone’s print screen.

Tips

  • Enter every contract, even short ones: the next certificate planner and the tax day counter only know what is here.
  • Leave the sign-off date blank for the contract you are on now; the days keep counting until you sign off.
  • Use the notes for what an officer matrix asks about: trade, cargo types, STS operations, inspections with no observations.

What the inspector looks for

  • The vetting officer matrix in the PIQ or HVPQ asks for each senior officer’s time in rank and on this ship type. Keep the log to the day so the figures you give match your discharge book.

Limits and good to know

  • Works offline. The sign-on date cannot be in the future and the sign-off cannot be before the sign-on.
  • The CV needs at least one contract; the print button is greyed until then.
  • On the Free plan the CV uses one of the month’s free prints and carries the free watermark; the trial and the paid plans print without limits.
  • The "In rank" box uses the rank in your profile, so update it in Settings when you are promoted.
  • The totals count calendar days between the dates; your administration may count sea time differently.

Use it in the app

The same page sits inside SeaReady under Help → Handbook and behind the “?” in the screen’s header, and it reads offline at sea.
