Opening a ship: details and codes
Expand a ship to see certificates within 90 days, ship facts, people aboard, New link code, Make Master and Code for new Master.

What it is for
Each ship in the Fleet tab can be opened to show three panels: the certificates expiring within 90 days, a few facts about the ship, and the people aboard. The same panels also hold the three office actions: "New link code", "Make Master" and "Code for new Master".
Use this screen when a Master asks for a fresh link code, when a certificate list needs checking from ashore, or when a Master has left the ship without handing over in SeaReady.
Who can use it
Anyone signed in with the company licence key. The actions apply only to ships linked to this company.
Step by step
- On a computer, tap the ship’s name in the first column (the arrow next to it turns). On a phone, tap "Certificates, ship and people" on the ship’s card; the button changes to "Hide details".
- Read "Certificates within 90 days": each line shows the certificate name, its expiry date and the days left; within 30 days the days turn red. "None." means nothing expires in the next 90 days. If any certificate has already expired, "N expired" appears in red under the list.
- Read the "Ship" panel: "Regime" (the inspection regime the ship works to), "Photo set" (positions photographed out of the total, and when the set is due for a refresh or "overdue"), "Phones" (phones in use out of the ship’s seat limit, and the licence status) and "App version aboard".
- Need a fresh link code? Tap "New link code" in the Ship panel. The code appears next to the button; send it to the Master, who enters it in SeaReady under Settings → Ship → Company link code. Link codes are valid for 14 days.
- Read "People aboard (N)": every person’s name and rank, with "· Master" after the rank of the current Master. Someone who deleted their account shows "account deleted".
- If the Master has left without handing over and the new Master is already aboard in SeaReady, tap "Make Master" next to that person. A confirmation explains that they take over join codes, phones and the licence aboard and that the current Master and SeaReady are told by e-mail. Confirm, and the list updates with "<name> is now the Master."
- If the new Master is not aboard in SeaReady yet, use the box "New Master not aboard yet?": tap "Code for new Master", read the confirmation and confirm. The code is shown with "Works once, until <date>. Send it only to the new Master." The new Master types it in SeaReady under Settings → Ship → "I have a join code" and joins as the Master in one step.
Tips
- Use "Make Master" only when the outgoing Master really has gone. If he is still aboard, let him hand over in the app himself.
- A "Code for new Master" is valid for 7 days and works once; making a new one cancels the previous one. When it is used, the previous Master, the company contact e-mail and SeaReady are all e-mailed, and the change is written to SeaReady’s log.
- A ship that is not linked yet shows "Waiting for the Master to enter the ship link code in SeaReady (Settings → Ship)." with a "New link code" button on the same line. Its name shows as "Not linked yet" until it links.
- A linked ship that has not sent numbers yet shows "Linked — no readiness data yet. It arrives the next time someone aboard opens SeaReady online."
Limits and good to know
- "New link code" is limited to 20 codes an hour per company, and only for IMO numbers already on the licence; to add a ship, use "Contact us".
- "Code for new Master" is limited to 5 codes a day per company. It works only for a ship that is already linked to the company.
- "Make Master" works only for someone who is aboard the ship in SeaReady and still has an account.
- The office never sees checklist answers, notes, photos or rest-hour records, only the counts and dates in these panels.
