SeaReady app · Inspection prep
Findings tracker
Paste the last SIRE, RightShip or PSC report, split it into findings and close each one with an owner, a date and photos; repeats are flagged.
Updated 2026-10-11 · SeaReady’s own words. The app changes often — if a screen looks different from this page, tell us from Help → Suggest an improvement.
What it is for
The "Findings Tracker" turns the last inspection report into a list you can actually close. Paste the SIRE, RightShip, PSC, CDI or internal report text, let the app split it into one finding per line, then give each finding an owner rank, a due date, a close-out action, a training note and evidence photos.
It also remembers. When a new report repeats an earlier finding — the same question number or PSC code, or wording that is close enough — the app flags it as a repeat. Inspectors treat a repeat as a failure of the last close-out, so you see it first.
Who can use it
An officer tool: full on Officer Pro, a ship licence and the free trial; a read-only preview on Free and Crew. Findings are ship data, so every enrolled phone on a ship licence sees the same list.
Step by step
- Under "Import a report" pick the "Report type" (SIRE, RightShip, PSC, CDI, Internal or Other) and set the "Inspection date".
- Paste the findings into the box, one per line or numbered, and tap "Split into findings" — or "Add one by hand" for a single finding.
- Check the split: edit, join or remove lines. A line marked "Looks like a repeat of: …" matches an earlier finding. Tap "Add N findings".
- Use the filter bar — "Open", "Repeats", "Closed", "All" — and open a finding card.
- Fill in the "SIRE chapter", the question number or PSC code and category, the "Owner (rank)" and the "Due date".
- Write the "Close-out action" (what was done, what changed so it does not come back, the evidence), the "Training assigned" note if training was given, and add "Evidence photos".
- Move the status from "Open" to "In progress" to "Closed". A closed finding without a close-out action shows a reminder to add one for the next inspector.
Tips
- The split recognises numbered and bulleted lines, SIRE 2.0 headings such as "Q5.3.1 …" and Paris MoU Form B rows with the 5-digit code, and drops header lines like vessel name, IMO, port and inspector.
- The SIRE chapter and category are guessed from the code or the words — they are suggestions, so check them.
- If a repeat flag is wrong, tap "Not a repeat" on the card.
- Overdue findings get a red "overdue" pill and a count at the top — look there before every arrival.
What the inspector looks for
- Inspectors read the last report before they board and expect each finding closed with an owner, a date and evidence — not a one-word "done".
- A repeat finding says the earlier fix did not hold. Be ready to explain the root cause and what changed the second time.
Limits and good to know
- Free and Crew see a preview only; Officer Pro, a ship licence or the trial switches it on.
- Report text and close-outs sync through the SeaReady server with the ship’s file whenever the phone has internet; evidence photo bytes do not travel and stay on the phone that took them.
- Up to 1,000 findings are kept. Deleting a finding also deletes its photos; the app asks you to confirm.
