Cadet task book
A personal practice log of cadet tasks by department, each signed off by an officer with a name and date, printable for your own record.

What it is for
The "Cadet task book (lite)" is a personal practice log for cadets: 36 tasks grouped by department — "Safety (all)" (6 tasks every cadet does, such as locating every muster station or donning a fireman’s outfit), "Deck" (14), "Engine" (11) and "Electro-technical" (5) — loosely following the STCW competence tables. Each task is signed off by an officer with a name and date, and the whole list can be printed.
It does not replace the official Training Record Book from your training provider or administration — the screen says so in an amber box. Keep that one signed too.
Who can use it
Everyone, on every plan including Free. Meant for cadets; the officer signs off on the cadet’s phone. The log is kept on this device only.
Step by step
- Open "Cadet task book" from the Learn group of the menu.
- Type your name in "Cadet name". The pill shows how many tasks are signed off out of 36.
- Tap a department button ("All", "Safety (all)", "Deck", "Engine", "Electro-technical") to filter the list.
- When an officer has watched you do a task, tap "Sign off" on it, enter "Officer name and rank" and the date, and tap "Save". The row then shows "Signed off by … on …".
- Made a mistake? Tap "Undo" on the row and confirm "Remove this sign-off?".
- Tap "Print" at the top to print or save the whole list as a PDF.
Tips
- Ask the officer to sign off at the moment, with the date of the task, not at the end of the voyage.
- Use the department filter during a watch so only the tasks for that department are on screen.
Limits and good to know
- The sign-off is a typed name and date on your own phone, not an officer’s signature; it is your practice record, not an official one.
- Kept on this device only (included in your device backup), never in the ship file and never sent to the Master or the office.
- On the Free plan the print counts as one of your 3 main PDFs a month and carries the "Made with SeaReady (free)" watermark; paid plans and the trial print without limits.
- Works offline.

The same page sits inside SeaReady under Help → Handbook and behind the “?” in the screen’s header, and it reads offline at sea.
