Training videos
Short AI-made videos of walk-rounds, drills, PSC hot spots and good practice that save onto your phone and play at sea with no signal.
Updated 2026-10-11 · SeaReady’s own words. The app changes often — if a screen looks different from this page, tell us from Help → Suggest an improvement.
What it is for
The training-video library is a set of 141 short AI-made videos with no sound: 47 library videos of 15 or 30 seconds each, and 94 lesson clips of 15 seconds (two for every photo position). The library is in five sections: "Walk-rounds" (walk each area the way an inspector does), "Drills" (how a realistic drill runs, start to finish), "PSC hot spots" (things port State control inspectors often check), "Good practice" (everyday jobs done well) and "Your ship type" (specials for one kind of ship, such as bulk carrier hatch covers or container lashing).
The videos show the idea, not a real ship. Each card says "AI-made video — officer check pending" until a SeaReady officer has reviewed it, after which it says "AI-made video — checked by a SeaReady officer". Your own company procedures (SMS) and the equipment maker’s instructions always come first.
Videos play inside the app. When the phone has no signal they play from the copy the app saved earlier, so you can watch them at sea.
Who can use it
Everyone, on every plan. On the Free plan half of the videos are open — every other one in each section; the rest show greyed out with a lock and "Paid plans — see plans". Any paid plan, the free trial or a ship licence opens all of them.
Step by step
- Open "Training videos" from the Learn group of the menu (or from the Tools page).
- Under "Which videos to show", choose "For my ship type" (the default, using the ship type in your vessel settings) or "All".
- Scroll to a section and tap the play button on a card; the length is shown in the corner, and a card with "Saved on this device" plays offline.
- To control downloads, tap "Download settings" (or go to Settings) and find the card "Training videos on this device".
- There, keep "Download automatically when online" switched on, and pick "Only my ship type" (recommended) or "All videos"; the card shows how many videos that is and roughly how many MB.
- Tap "Download now" to fetch the missing videos straight away, or "Remove downloaded videos" to free the space; "Watch the videos" takes you back to the library.
- At the bottom of the library, tap "See it like the inspector" to open the photo lessons that the lesson clips belong to.
Tips
- On a satellite or pay-per-MB connection, switch "Download automatically when online" off and tap "Download now" when you are on Wi-Fi in port.
- If the phone is in data-saver mode the automatic download pauses; "Download now" fetches the videos anyway.
- "Only my ship type" keeps the phone from filling up. Choose "All videos" only if you change ships often.
- If "Your ship type" shows "No special videos … yet", tap "Show all ship types" to see the specials made for other ships.
Limits and good to know
- Downloads happen only while the app is open and online, in the background, one video at a time: videos made for your ship type first, then the general ones, then the lesson clips. They stop when the device has less than 200 MB free and pause in data-saver mode.
- The videos are kept inside the app’s own storage on this phone or computer, not in your Downloads folder, so you will not see them as files. A private browser window cannot save them.
- On the Free plan only the free half of the videos is downloaded. Locked videos open the plans pop-up instead of playing.
- A video that is not published yet shows "This video is not available yet — try again later"; offline, a video not yet saved shows "Video not downloaded yet".
- Watching a video to 80 per cent (or to the end) is written to your personal training log on this phone. On a ship licence that log goes to the ship’s Master only; on a personal plan only if you switch on sharing in your crew group. Other crew never see it.

The same page sits inside SeaReady under Help → Handbook and behind the “?” in the screen’s header, and it reads offline at sea.
