Defence pack
The "prove it" bundle: readiness, certificates, conditions of class, drills, PSC history, photo status and open observations in one PDF.
Updated 2026-10-11 · SeaReady’s own words. The app changes often — if a screen looks different from this page, tell us from Help → Suggest an improvement.
What it is for
The "Defence Pack" is the bundle you hand over when someone asks "prove it": an inspector, an auditor or the office. It is built from the ship’s own records on the phone: the preparation readiness score and counts, your own rank’s chapters, the certificate list with expiry status, open conditions of class, the latest completed drills, the PSC history you declared in the PIQ, the photo repository status and every open observation with its corrective and preventive actions, ending with sign-off lines for the Master and the date.
"Print with evidence" adds the full evidence bundle underneath: every answered checklist item with its status, critical flag, note and photos, grouped by chapter.
Who can use it
Everyone can open the page and read it. Sharing or printing the pack and the evidence bundle is on paid plans, the trial and ship licences. "Export JSON bundle" is the same full backup you get from Settings and works on every plan.
Step by step
- Open "Defence pack" from the menu and check the vessel block and section 1, "Preparation readiness", match what you expect.
- Tap "Share PDF" to build the PDF and send it with the phone’s share sheet. If the phone cannot share files, the PDF is downloaded and "Email it" and "WhatsApp" buttons appear so you can attach it.
- Tap "Print / Save PDF" to print the pack as shown, or "Print with evidence" to print it with the evidence bundle; the app waits for the photos to load before printing.
- Tap "Export JSON bundle" to download the complete backup file (all data and photos) for the office or for restoring on another device.
- Tap "Hide evidence bundle" to remove the bundle from the screen again.
Tips
- Keep the certificate vault, drills and observations up to date and the pack writes itself — there is nothing to type here.
- The "Your areas as <rank>" section appears on tankers when your rank answers for particular SIRE chapters, so a Chief Officer’s pack leads with cargo, mooring, safety and security.
- The pack notes how many questions are locked on the Free plan, so the office can see why coverage looks low.
What the inspector looks for
- After the inspection the questions are "show me": the certificate that was valid, the drill that was held, the finding that was closed. The pack puts the dates in one place so you are not digging through folders at the gangway.
- The evidence bundle is what you hand to the inspector or the office when a finding is challenged: the answer, the note, the date and the photo together.
Limits and good to know
- Free plan: "Share PDF", "Print / Save PDF" and "Print with evidence" are locked and open the plans pop-up; the browser’s own print shows a notice instead of the page.
- The PDF and the evidence bundle use reduced copies of the photos to keep the file light. A photo that is not on this phone (added on another device and not yet downloaded) is shown as "Photo not on this phone".
- Evidence photos stay on the phone that took them unless the plan uploads media; the JSON backup includes all photos on this phone — restore it from Settings on any device.
- The pack is generated from records on this device at the moment you open it. Nothing is sent to anyone unless you share it.
