Running hours
Log the running hours of each machine and its service tasks, and see what is due next by hours or by calendar.

What it is for
The "Running hours" page is a notebook for machinery hours and service intervals: what is due next on each machine, by running hours or by calendar months, whichever comes first. You add each machine (main engine, generators, compressors, purifiers), enter its hours each time you read the counter, and list the service tasks with their intervals from the maker’s manual or your planned maintenance system.
It does not set any interval itself and it is not a planned maintenance system. It is the quick view an engineer keeps on the phone so nothing is missed between the office PMS and the engine-room log.
Who can use it
Everyone, on every plan including Free. Used by the engineer officers; the Chief Engineer sees the overview. Shared through the ship file on Officer Pro or a ship licence; on Free and Crew it stays on your phone.
Step by step
- Open "Running hours" from the Tools page. Under "Add machinery" type the "Name" (for example "No.1 Generator engine"), the "Maker / model" and "Hours now", then tap "Add".
- On each machine card add its service tasks: type the "Service task", the interval "Every" in hours or "or every" in months (one of them is required), then "Last done at" (hours) and "Last done on" (date), and tap "Add task".
- Each time you read the hour counter, type the figure in "Running hours now" and tap "Update". If the new figure is lower than the last one the page asks before saving.
- Read the pill on each task: green when there is time, amber when the service is close (within 50 hours or 10 percent of the interval, whichever is larger, or within 14 days), red when it is over, and "enter last done" when there is nothing to count from.
- When a service is done, tap "Done": the page records today’s date and the machine’s current hours as the last-done point. The bin icon deletes a task; "Delete machine" removes the machine and its tasks after a confirmation.
- The three pills at the top ("overdue", "due soon" and "machines") give the overview. Tap "Print" for a copy of every machine and task.
Tips
- Enter "Last done at" and "Last done on" for every task when you set it up, otherwise the page cannot count and shows "enter last done".
- Your company PMS stays the record. Use this page to carry its due list in your pocket and to brief the relief engineer.
Limits and good to know
- Saved on your phone; works with no signal. On Officer Pro or a ship licence it is part of the ship file: the ship’s phones sync through the SeaReady server over the ship’s Wi-Fi whenever it has internet (VSAT/Starlink) and in port; with no internet, changes are held on the phone until the connection returns. On Free and Crew it stays on your own phone.
- Printing: unlimited on paid plans, the trial and a ship licence. On the free plan this counts as one of the 3 main prints a month (plus up to 3 earned bonus prints), is watermarked "Made with SeaReady (free)", and the button shows how many are left; signed out, 1 a month on this phone.
- Calendar intervals are counted in months of 30.44 days from the last-done date. A task with both an hour and a month interval is due at whichever comes first.
- No history of readings is kept: only the current hours, the date they were read and the last-done point of each task.
