LSA / FFA service tracker

Keep the service and expiry dates of liferafts, extinguishers, EPIRB, SCBA and pyrotechnics in one list with a 30-day countdown.

What it is for

The "LSA / FFA Service Tracker" is one list of the service dates that are easy to lose between the certificate vault and daily work: liferafts, extinguishers, the EPIRB, SCBA sets, pyrotechnics, immersion suits and the like. LSA means life-saving appliances; FFA means fire-fighting appliances.

Each item has a last-service date, a next-due date and a note. The strip at the top, "Next 30 days", counts what is overdue and what falls due in the next month, so the officer who keeps the LSA file can see at a glance what the next port must fix.

Who can use it

Everyone, on every plan including Free. Usually kept by the officer who holds the LSA and FFA file and checked by the Chief Officer. Shared through the ship file on Officer Pro or a ship licence; on Free and Crew it stays on your phone.

Step by step

  1. Open "LSA / FFA tracker" from the Tools page. On an empty list you can tap "Add the 14 common LSA/FFA items": they arrive with no dates, because the dates must come from your own service certificates.
  2. To add your own item, fill in "Add equipment": type the "Item", pick a "Category" (Liferafts, Extinguishers, FFA, EPIRB, SCBA, Medical, Pyrotechnics, Immersion suits, Compass or Other), type the "Service type", choose the "Next due" date and an optional "Note", then tap "Add item".
  3. Every item in the list has three fields you can change at any time: "Last service", "Next due" and "Note". An item with no due date gets an amber border, and the top strip says how many items still need a date.
  4. Read the pill on each item: green when more than 30 days away, amber inside 30 days, red when overdue (for example "12d overdue" or "due today").
  5. To remove an item, tap the bin icon next to it and confirm with "Delete".

Tips

  • Enter the dates from the service certificate or the sticker on the equipment, not from memory. Each common item carries the note "Typical interval — verify against flag/class": the tracker never chooses a date for you.
  • Put the service station and certificate reference in the "Note" field, so you know which folder to open when the inspector asks for the paper.
  • Walk the list before each port call. Anything inside 30 days can often be done alongside; anything overdue needs a plan today.

What the inspector looks for

  • Inspectors compare the dates on the equipment, the service certificates and the ship’s record, and expect all three to agree. Keep this list in step with the certificates in the vault.
  • An overdue liferaft service, an expired HRU or out-of-date pyrotechnics are findings in any inspection. The red pills show you what the inspector would find, before they do.

Limits and good to know

  • Saved on your phone; works with no signal. On Officer Pro or a ship licence it is part of the ship file: the ship’s phones sync through the SeaReady server over the ship’s Wi-Fi whenever it has internet (VSAT/Starlink) and in port; with no internet, changes are held on the phone until the connection returns. On Free and Crew it stays on your own phone.
  • The tracker does not work out intervals and does not send reminders: you enter the next due date yourself. There is no print button on this page.
  • The list is sorted by next due date; items without a date are listed last.

Use it in the app

The same page sits inside SeaReady under Help → Handbook and behind the “?” in the screen’s header, and it reads offline at sea.
