Ready-made checklists (library)

Over 150 ready-made ship checklists in 15 groups, in our own words with the official reference: copy one, change it, schedule it and sign it.

Updated 2026-10-11 · SeaReady’s own words. The app changes often — if a screen looks different from this page, tell us from Help → Suggest an improvement.

What it is for

The library holds more than 150 ready-made checklists for the jobs every ship does: inspections and PSC preparation, bridge, engine room, tanker and dry cargo work, permits, drills, LSA and FFA, mooring and anchoring, security (ISPS), environment (MARPOL and ballast water), MLC accommodation and food, crew change and familiarisation, galley and hygiene, and dry dock.

Each checklist is written by SeaReady in plain words. It shows the official rule it follows (for example SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC, ISPS or STCW) and the month we last checked that reference. They are not official forms and are not copied from any organisation or company. Where your company’s safety management system asks for more, the company form comes first — copy the ready-made checklist and add your company’s questions.

A ready-made checklist already has the answer types, the limits and what a bad answer needs: a fridge reading above 5 °C or a freezer warmer than −18 °C turns red, a "No" on a critical question asks for a note, a photo and a finding. A few entries simply open a tool SeaReady already has, such as the mooring line log or the handover notes.

Who can use it

Everyone. Free plan: the first 3 checklists in each group are yours to use (45 in all); the rest can be previewed. Crew, Officer Pro, the 14-day trial and the ship licence: every checklist in the library. Copies taken from the library do not count towards the 3 own checklists of the Free plan.

Step by step

The ready-made checklist library with its groups, each with a short summary and the number of checklists: inspections and PSC prep, bridge, engine room, cargo, permits and drills.
The ready-made checklist library.
  1. Open "Checklists" from the Ship & crew menu and tap the "Library" tab, then pick a group.
  2. Each card shows the title, how often it is done and its official reference. Tap "Preview" to read every question and the sign-off before you take it.
  3. Tap "Use". A copy goes into "Mine" and opens; change any question, how often it is due and who signs, exactly as with your own checklists.
  4. Tap "Start" to fill it in, section by section. Bad answers turn red and ask for their note, photo or finding.
  5. On a ship, "Share to ship" puts your copy in the ship file so everyone aboard can use it (Officer Pro, the trial or a ship licence).
  6. Cards that say "Opens …" take you to the existing tool (for example the mooring line log or Handover) instead of making a copy. A few checklists also show "Related tool" — a link to the SeaReady tool that goes with them, such as the rest-hours page.

Tips

  • Start with the checklists your inspectors ask about most: garbage, oily water separator, familiarisation, food and accommodation inspections, gangway watch.
  • A copy is yours: if the library is updated later, your copy does not change by itself.
  • Where a reference is marked as not confirmed, check your flag’s or company’s rule before relying on the interval shown.

What the inspector looks for

  • Inspectors look for routine checks done on time, signed by the right rank, with failed items followed up. A ready-made checklist set to the right interval, with its history and raised findings, shows exactly that.

Limits and good to know

  • Free plan: the first 3 ready-made checklists in each group (45 in all); the others can be previewed. Every library checklist on Crew, Officer Pro, the trial and the ship licence.
  • The library is guidance written in our own words, not an official or approved form. Your company’s safety management system and your flag’s rules come first.
  • The library is part of the app and works offline: the questions of a group are loaded only when you open that group, from the copy of the app kept on the phone. Your copies and their records are kept on the phone like your own checklists.

Use it in the app

The same page sits inside SeaReady under Help → Handbook and behind the “?” in the screen’s header, and it reads offline at sea.
